【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoverstherequirementsforelectrodepositedcadmiumcoatingsonproductsofiron,steel,andothermetals.Note18212;Cadmiumisdepositedasacoatingprincipallyonironandsteelproducts.Itcanalsobeelectrodepositedonaluminum,brass,berylliumcopper,copper,nickel,andpowdermetallurgyparts.1.2Thecoatingisprovidedinvariousthicknessesuptoandincluding25x03BC;meitheraselectrodepositedorwithsupplementaryfinishes.1.3Cadmiumcoatingsareusedforcorrosionresistanceandforcorrosionpreventionofthebasismetalpart.Theas-depositedcoating(TypeI)isusefulforthelowestcostprotectioninamildornoncorrosiveenvironmentwhereearlyformationofwhitecorrosionproductsisnotdetrimentalorharmfultothefunctionofacomponent.Theprimepurposeofthesupplementarychromatefinishes(TypesIIandIII)ontheelectroplatedcadmiumistoincreasecorrosionresistance.Chromatingwillretardorpreventtheformationofwhitecorrosionproductsonsurfacesexposedtovariousenvironmentalconditionsaswellasdelaytheappearanceofcorrosionfromthebasismetal.1.4Cadmiumplatingisusedtominimizebi-metalliccorrosionbetweenhigh-strengthsteelfastenersandaluminumintheaerospaceindustry.Undercuttingofthreadsonfastenerpartsisnotnecessaryasthecadmiumcoatinghasalowcoefficientoffrictionthatreducesthetighteningtorquerequiredandallowsrepetitivedismantling.1.5Cadmium-coatedpartscaneasilybesolderedwithouttheuseofcorrosivefluxes.Cadmium-coatedsteelpartshavealowerelectricalcontactresistancethanzinc-coatedsteel.Thelubricityofcadmiumplatingisusedonspringsfordoorsandlatchesandforweavingmachineryoperatinginhighhumidity.Corrosionproductsformedoncadmiumaretightlyadherent.Unlikezinc,cadmiumdoesnotbuildupvoluminouscorrosionproductsonthesurface.Thisallowsforproperfunctioningduringcorrosiveexposureofmovingparts,threadedassemblies,valves,anddelicatemechanismswithoutjammingwithdebris.
